Mozilla’s share gaining streak in the browser market seems to be losing steam in recent months. According to the latest metrics from Net Applications, Firefox lost about 0.2 of a percentage point in February to end with a slightly lower usage share of 24.2%. It was the third month in a row that it fell in the rankings, along with most other major browsers, even as Mozilla converted a sizable chunk of its user base to the newer Firefox 3.6.
Microsoft’s Internet Explorer wound up grabbing 61.58% of the market after suffering a month-over-month loss of 0.54 percent, while Safari was down 0.08 points to 4.45% and Opera dipped 0.03 to a mere 2.35%. Google’s Chrome, meanwhile, continued its climb for the sixteenth straight month. Its small 0.4 point gain isn’t exactly overwhelming, but looking at the bigger picture its 5.6% share is remarkable given its short life on the market.
That trend looks likely to continue as Microsoft today starts offering a “browser ballot” encouraging IE users to consider the other browsers on the market. If Chrome keeps up the pace of the last three months it is estimated it will break the 10% mark in October, 11 months ahead of a goal it set last year.

Imran Hussain at iThinkDifferent points out at a great feature, the ability to pin tabs in Google Chrome, simply put a feature that will remember the tabs you most like. It won’t do it automatically for you ofcourse, you have to right click the tab and select “Pin Tab” option and to make sure the tabs re-open each time you start Chrome Browser, you have to choose “Reopen the pages that were last open” from options and you are good to go.

I have never liked the fact that many software companies have decided to cut down on standalone installers and instead have chosen to remotely download whatever software it is via a small software. Users have to install a small downloader software first, run it and use that to download and install the full software.
This is the case with most of Google’s softwares now, like Google Earth, Google Talk and most important of all, Google Chrome Browser but I cannot live without the standalone installer, even though I am on high speed Internet, downloading isn’t a problem for me, I just like it the other way.
I am sure many of you, esp. those on slow speed Internet would like to have a direct download link to the standalone installer which can be used to install Google Chrome without the hassles. Well, here you go:
Direct Download Link to ALWAYS Latest version of Google Chrome
I do not want to post a link for each version of Google Chrome just yet. Above link is directly from Google, it will always have the latest stable release version of Google Chrome. You can just click above, then check the box for “Accept and Install” and the download for standalone installer will start.
Leave your comments and let me know what you think of this.
